If you are a foreigner from another country, living in the UAE on a residence visa, you are in most cases allowed to bring your family with you to UAE through a family visa. Although the requirements are relatively simple, the process can be difficult if the correct requirements are not followed. To get a better understanding of the process, we have put down the family visa requirements in UAE.

There are different requirements if you want to get a family visa and a massive percentage of the expats working in UAE, live away from their families and many of them are leaving their wife and children behind in their home country. If you have a valid UAE residence visa, you are eligible to sponsor your family and immediate family members, for a relatively low amount of money.

Male expats must have a minimum of AED 4,000 per month or AED 3,000 per month plus accommodation. Female expats must have a minimum monthly salary of AED 10,000 or AED 8000 plus accommodation. In addition, all family members above 18 years old, must pass a medical test taken and approved by the government in the UAE.

Family members are issued a 2–3-year visa depending on the visa type, the employer of the sponsor, and the visa status of the sponsor. A sponsored resident gets the privilege of enjoying the same visa duration as their sponsor. Though the visa must be renewed before the expiry of the sponsor’s visa to avoid penalties.
